Yushan National Park Headquarters Commissioned Study Found Yellow-Throated Martens Exhibit Unique Male Bonding Phenomenon

The Yushan National Park Headquarters specially commissioned a research team to investigate the ecological behavior of yellow-throated martens in the park. The study found that the yellow-throated marten in the group showed a male bonding phenomenon between individuals without any blood relationship.

According to overseas research literature, there are few records of male bonding activities among mustelids, which are usually solitary and individuals often exhibit competitive behavior.

Some literature also mentioned that when male individuals of the same species bond together to hunt, they have the opportunity to hunt larger prey, and can obtain more food than hunting alone. The ecological behavior of yellow-throated martens still requires long-term observation and research by academic units.
