Meishan Visitor Center Winter Season Special Exhibition
From November 1 to December 30, 2006, the “Faces of Taiwan's Mountains—Sentiments from 3,000 Meters” Exhibition of Photographs by Chang-ying Ho takes place in the first floor special exhibition gallery of the Meishan Visitor Center . Ho provided 32 of his photographs for this exhibition. His works provide a remarkable interpretation of Nature's ever-changing landscapes and a close look at Taiwan 's unique and breathtaking scenery.
Ho is currently employed as a conservation officer in Yushan National Park 's Paiyun Management Station. His first experience of hiking one of Taiwan's 100 highest peaks was in November of 1995, when he conquered Dabajian Mountain . It was then that he began to develop a passion for Taiwan 's towering mountains, especially those of 3,000 meters and more in height. He subsequently viewed the works of photographers who had visited Taiwan 's highest mountains, and was inspired to take his own photographs with a point-and-shoot camera. In October of 2003, he launched a Chinese-language Website (http://fly5230.myweb.hinet.net) and in his spare time he has posted his photographs and articles regarding the conservation of Taiwan 's high mountains to share with others.
Although Ho admits he is not a famous or professional photographer, he is a person who possesses a great love for Taiwan 's natural forests and mountain areas. You are cordially invited to visit this exhibition and share Ho's passion for mountain and forest conservation, and to see what he sees-- Taiwan 's outstanding natural beauty.
This exhibition is open to the public and runs for a period of two months from November 1 to December 30, 2006. Exhibit hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, except for the second Tuesday of each month when the Meishan Visitor Center is closed.
