Climate Change Threat to Natural & Cultural Heritage
Cultural and nature-based heritage sites-- from national parks to cultural ruins—are increasingly threatened by climate change, according to United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
Some of the world heritages at risk include Charles Darwin's explored barrier reef in Belize, South Africa's famous West Coast National Park, 600 year-old Thai ruins, and archaeological sites in Scotland.
UNEP and UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization) both conclude international society's urgent responsibilities to stop further climate change and to protect world heritages. More information about how climate change affects world heritages can be downloaded from UNESCO website
