Lin Chin-rong takes over as head of the Construction and Planning Agency
Ministry of The Interior Construction and Planning Agency held the handing over ceremony for the position of director on August 1, 2007. The outgoing director Lee Wu-hsiung is being transferred to the post of vice chairperson of the Public Construction Commission Executive Yuan, and Lin Chin-rong, a former Director-General of the Kaohsiung City Government Urban Develop Bureau, will take over as head of the Construction and Planning Agency.
Lin Chin-rong said that excepts for pushing urban regeneration and sewerage treatment, the Construction and Planning Agency will also focus on advancing the National Park and National land-use plan in the future and efficient use of the beautiful scenery of Taiwan. His duty is to improve, promote and make gains in the exposure of National Parks. He will also strive to increase the international visibility of Taiwan. In addition, it is in his charge to re-plan land resources allocation in Taiwan to make the National land-use plan a more integrated whole, Lin said.
Lin suggested six main points at the handover ceremony to reveal his intention. The six main points are:
- Promote sustainable national land planning and legislate the “National Land Comprehensive Development Law” and the “Coastland Law.”
- Encourage more rapid implementation of urban regeneration, with emphasis on the ”urban renewal project of four north and south mega cities”, which provide Taiwan with the greatest positive economic growth.
- Maintain a Balance between rural and urban development.
- Promote the “Housing law” and fulfill green building promises.
- Move forward with the sewerage treatment policy without delay.
- Enhance National Parks resources conservation.

Lin Chin-rong, 51 years old, was an urban studies visiting scholar of MIT, obtained his masters degree from the Urban Design Department of Chinese Culture University, had been the Director General of Kaohsiung City Government Urban Develop Bureau and Public Works Bureau.
