Taroko Trails and Mountaineering Trails to Reopen One by One

The torrential rain brought by Typhoon Sepat has damaged trails and mountaineering hiking trails in Taroko National Park. The Taroko National Park Headquarters has been inspecting and repairing damaged trails since Sepat left. So far, Swallow Grotto Trail, Chongde Trail, Heren Trail Tunnel of Nine Turns Trail, and Buluowan upper terrace Bamboo Groves Trail have been reopened to the public. Mountain-hiking routes such as Mt. Nanhu, Mt. Jhongyangjian, Mt.Cilai’s North Peak and Mt. Hehuan have been reopened to those applying for mountain and park entry permits. Those trails that remain closed will be reopened at a time to be decided depending on repair conditions and safety considerations.

Taroko National Park Headquarters has mobilized a considerable number of our personnel and volunteers to inspect and repair every scenic spot, path and mountain-hiking trail.  Besides those trails mentioned above that have been reopened, Swallow Grotto Trail, which was scheduled to open on August 27, had to remain closed because of a thunderstorm in the evening during August 25 that caused a rockslide, damaging protection barriers.

Taroko National Park Headquarters would like to urge the public that although some trails have been reopened, you should still exercise caution when entering trails due to a high probability of heavy rain.
