You are cordially invited to attend the “2007 National Parks of Taiwan and Green Network Conference”
As the world is looking into ways of restricting the greenhouse effect and coping with drastic climatic changes, the subject of protecting environmental resources to slow the pace of global warming must be placed high on the political agenda of our times. Taiwan, as part of the international community, is responsible for formulating related policies and taking firm action with resources available on a website for overall national land resources, which will help overhaul the national green land system to stage a “Green Revolution” in environmental planning.
Generally, green land should perform ecological and social-economic functions. From a spatial and hierarchical point of view, it represents an entire ecosystem which includes communities, urban areas, specific regions, nations and even the entire global village. Concerning the utilization of land resources, our agenda should include coastal conservation areas, wetland systems and nature reserves in national parks and countryside green land systems. For this reason, the Ministry of the Interior hopes to gain more insight on the future development of the four green land systems affiliated with the Construction and Planning Agency amid nationwide climatic changes.
“2007 National Parks of Taiwan and Green Network Conference” is widely seen as a prelude to a new era of integrated, online green land systems. At the conference, representatives from the Urban and Rural Planning Office, National Parks Division, Urban Planning Division and Comprehensive Planning Department will cast light on imminent problems and share their experience in resolving related issues. Invited from the U.S., the Netherlands, Japan and Hong Kong, environmental experts of various disciplines in green land system and chiefs of various green groups will issue their statements on the topic “New Development Strategies on Green Land Systems” Experts from all over the world will attend a roundtable meeting in which they will voice their opinions and aim for consensus on the orientation of future missions. In addition, the organizer cordially invites teachers and students from various colleges and universities, concerned groups and public bodies to come and exchange views with domestic and international scholars. It is hoped that an agreement can be reached on the management of the national green land system. We would be honored if you could take part in this special occasion.
