Taroko National Park Headquarters invites private groups to “adopt a trail”
To involve the public in national park management and conservation work, the Park Headquarters is inviting private groups, companies and schools to participate enthusiastically in the trail adoption scheme. The adopting group can regularly patrol the trail it adopts and carry out maintenance and cleaning work. It can also provide the funds for local people recruited by Park Headquarters to carry out trail maintenance and protection work. The trails that can be adopted include the scenic hiking trails Shakadang Trail (砂卡礑步道), Meiyuan Jhucun Trail (梅園竹村步道)and Dali Datong Trail(大禮大同步道) and also Cilai Mountain (奇萊連峰) peaks and Nanhu Mountain (南湖群峰) peaks mountain trails.
Park Director Lin Yong-fa (林永發處長) said that by enlisting the participation of private groups, the love of the public for nature can be converted into real actions, stimulating the public’s sense of mission and feeling of responsibility towards the environment. Interested parties can find out more information about trail adoption from the Park Headquarters’ Tourism & Recreation Section on 03-8621100 extension 601.
