2008 Kending National Park Coral Reef Bio-diversity and Conservation Week Activity series
To promote correct marine ecology conservation concepts Kending National Park Headquarters will carry out a series of coral reef bio-diversity and conservation related activities during the coral spawning season.
An appointment with Houbihu sea urchins (後壁湖海膽) —sea urchin release: Following the conservation success of the long-established “Houbihu model marine reserve”(後壁湖海洋資源保護示範區), the establishment of the “Tiaoshih model marine reserve” 眺石海洋資源保護示範區) will be announced and sea urchins released in the sea at Taioshih (眺石), to achieve the objective of passing on experience.
Tidal belt ecology guidance The beauty of the ecological resources at Wanlitong, where the land meets the ocean, will be explored. A marine recreation expert from Taiwan will give a talk entitled “How marine recreation and marine conservation can be combined—overseas case study.”
Marine volunteer beach clean-up: The Park HQ will cooperate with the men of “Coast Patrol Corps 6-3 ” (六三大隊) and clean the beach at Longkeng.
Marine volunteer scuba diving sea clean-up: As coral spawns, the sea around Kending will be given a thorough clean-up to welcome the new-born coral.
