“The beauty of Taiwan—National Park Special Exhibition” was planned in by the Construction & Planning Agency, Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with the headquarters of Taiwan’s national parks, National Taiwan Museum and National Museum of Natural Science. Following the holding of the exhibition in the main south Taiwan venue, Kaohsiung, the east Taiwan sub-exhibition will be held for one-month from May 31 to June 30 in Taroko National Park’s Visitor Center and Eco-Education Center. The park HQ has also planned a lecture series and traditional Taroko tribe music and dance activities in coordination with the exhibition to which the general public is invited to attend.
This exhibition will tour Taiwan for one year and be shown in three main venues in north, central and south Taiwan and in three sub-venues in the north, south and east. It is hoped that by using the touring exhibition method, the people of Taiwan will be able to learn about and appreciate the beauty of the seven national parks of Taiwan without having to travel a long distance. The most striking feature of the exhibition is the use of “zero pollution green image”, a 3-D theater, e-books and multi-media display methods to show the beauty of Kending, Yushan, Yangmingshan, Taroko, Shei-pa, Kinmen and Dongsha Atoll national parks, at the same time showing the special features of Taiwan’s national park resources and conservation achievements.
Director of Taroko National Park Headquarters Lin Yong-fa said that each of Taiwan’s national parks has its own special characteristics, including high mountains, valleys, volcanoes, coral reefs, the ocean, battlefields and building clusters and, in addition to different natural environments, they also have rich and diverse ecosystems with a variety of tropical zone to cold zone species and historical and cultural resources, and it is no exaggeration to call them “Taiwan’s most beautiful land”. This special exhibition is being held in the park’s visitor center and the newly-opened Eco-Education Center to allow the people of east Taiwan to get to know Taiwan’s seven national parks and everyone is welcome to com to see it.
