Erzihping public toilets with eco-pond water purification and reuse of recycled water

Erzihping public toilets with eco-pond water purification and reuse of recycled water set to open to the public on June 25

Yangmingshan National Park’s Erzihping Recreational Area is situated between the sub-tropical zone and the temperate zone. The climate is mild and the trees and plant species are diverse. It is surrounded by forest made up mainly of Common machilus (Machilus thunbergii Sieb.紅楠 ), Japanese black pine (Pinus thunbergii Parl黑松), Formosan sweet gum (Liquidambar formosana Hance楓香).  It is a tranquil green valley ideal for watching butterflies and birds, mountain climbing, hiking, enjoying the lovely scenery and observing plants. Yangmingshan HQ built an obstacle free forest trail about 1.7 kilometers long that is very suitable for giving disabled, elderly people or whole families a taste of nature. The original wooden toilets were old, too small and no longer met demand so, on February 8, 2007, the park HQ commissioned an architect to design toilets and a wastewater treatment tank, with an eco-pond for purification of recycled water, that reuse purified and sterilized recycled water for flushing, meeting environmental protection and water saving concepts. The whole project has applied eco-engineering technology to the wastewater treatment natural purification process, having the advantage of saving water and energy, avoiding secondary pollution, not damaging the natural environment and recycling water.
