Water quality tests show that the sea water at Nanwan Recreation Area, Kenting National Park is good quality

Every summer the crowds flock to various bathing beaches around Taiwan. Water should be an important consideration when deciding which beach to visit to engage in water-based activities. According to the result of the Environmental Protection Agency’s “2008 coastal recreational area water quality monitoring” first test, the water of popular Nanwan Recreational Area is the highest grade-- “good”. People can thus engage in water based activities at Nanwan without worrying about water-related health problems.

Kenting National Park HQ said that the reason Nanwan water has a “Good” grade is the operation of Nanwan waste water treatment plant, good water soil preservation in the area and strong tidal currents. The national park waste water treatment plant began operating in 1999. All local residents have now been connected to the plant, meaning that the waste water from the area, which has many shops and a large number of visitors, is treated effectively, making it the guardian of Nanwan’s water quality.
