Kinmen National Park HQ’s Chiang Ching-kuo Memorial Hall reopened to visitors on July 6, 2008
A reopening ceremony for the renovated Chiang Ching-kuo Memorial Hall was held on July 6. The hall aims to welcome tourists from Mainland China following the expansion of the three mini-links and also to attract international visitors. The displays in the hall have bilingual introductions to serve Chinese-speaking and foreign visitors.
For the opening ceremony, local school bands were invited to play. Legislator Chen Fu-lai, Chairman of Fujian Province Syue Siang-chuan, Kinmen County Commissioner, Li Zhu-feng, local officials of various levels, local elected representatives, friends of Chiang Ching-kuo from amongst the ordinary people, military veterans, the Minister of the Interior and ministry officials were VIP guests. They ate a “Plum blossom” patriotic meal like the island’s people ate in earlier times when life in the war zone was simple. In the afternoon, the route of Chiang Ching-kuo’s inspection tour of Kinmen was re-traced. The highlights of Kinmen were enjoyed in a one-day tour.
Through the year the hall will only close on Chinese New Year ’s Eve. It is open to visitors from 8.30 am to 5pm and does not close at lunchtime. Groups of visitors are especially welcome
