”1000 years of the Atayal” Film Presentation Environmental Education Series
In July 2006, Shei-pa National Park HQ commissioned a production company to produce the “1000 years of the Atayal” Atayal culture and ecology film. Over two years, the people of Cinsbu (Jhensibao鎮西堡) and Smangus (Singuang villages新光部落) participated in the film’s production, making it a model example of “community building model” film making.
The main theme of this drama is the migration of the Atayal people(泰雅族), showing the ecological and cultural wisdom of the people and the vicissitudes experienced during the migration of the tribe in the past. Through the theme “Atayal migration”, the value of “searching for roots consciousness” is expressed.
Lin Ching, Director of Shei-pa National Park, said “1000 years of the Atayal” is also a testament to the efforts that the park HQ has made over a long period of time to develop a partnership with local residents. The presentation for the film will be held on August 3 and 4 in the park HQ’s Wenshui Visitor Center (汶水遊客中心). A two-month special exhibition (August 3 to September 30) of “1000 years of the Atayal” props and costumes will also be held to allow the public to see the scenery and costumes from the film in real life.
