Tunnel of Nine Turns(Chiucyudong)Trail was closed on August 4 and 5 because of rock falls

Typhoon Fung-weng has left Taiwan but the effects of the heavy rains it brought are still being felt. After the typhoon, fallen rocks were cleared from the park trails and the trails successively opened, however, Tunnel of Nine Turns(Chiucyudong)Trail (九曲洞步道) was still affected by occasional rock falls on August 4. The trail receives a large number of visitors in the summer vacation and falling rocks can easily cause injury so, for visitor safety, the park HQ announced that Tunnel of Nine Turns(Chiucyudong)Trail would be temporary closed on August 4 and 5. The trail was reopened when the danger had passed.

The park HQ said that the weather was fine after the typhoon but the rock strata were still saturated, making the trail prone to rock falls visitors are reminded that although the park’s trails are open it is necessary to always watch out for falling rocks when engaging in outdoor activities.
