Shei-Pa’s Dasiaojian Route temporarily closed after the collapse of Renshou Bridge

In September three typhoons in succession hit Taiwan, causing substantial damage to the trails and roads of Shei-Pa National Park and limiting visitor access. To date, only Wuling Recreation Area and related trails have been re-opened.

The park HQ had begun accepting of applications for mountain permits for the Wuling area, however, recently, a park warden discovered that a bridge providing access to the route, Renshou Bridge, suffered a collapse about 80 meters long during Typhoon Jangmi and presents a danger to anyone passing by. A number of climbing groups have also expressed the view that the road is not suitable for people to use at present. For the sake of visitor safety, the park HQ has decided to temporarily stop accepting applications for the Dasiaojian mountain route. Permits already issued are now invalid.

From the date of this announcement Shei-Pa National Park will temporarily stop accepting applications for permits for this route. When the bridge has been repaired and there are no safety concerns, applications will once again be accepted.
