“Introduction to bird ecology in Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park” lecture and family Christmas art activity

Since it was established in October, 2007, Dongsha Marine National Park HQ has actively implemented marine environment education work and established good interactive relations with local residents. At 10 am on December 14, a family “Christmas tree” art activity was held in the park activity center. Led by park volunteer, Ms Hu Shu-mei, a team of volunteers instructed families how to make a festive Christmas tree using just waste paper and their imagination, and a good time was had by all!

At 2.30 pm on the same day in Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park Visitor Center, Kao Jie-chi, a specialist in the park management station, presented a lecture,” Introduction to bird ecology in Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park”, in which he told the audience that the park is a window through which city people can get close to nature and that birds are the spirit of nature and a city forest park’s indicators. Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park has been transformed from a landfill site into a green city space, a transformation that was interesting as well as diverse, he said, welcoming the opportunity the lecture presented to allow the people of the city to understand Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park’s ecological indicators.
