The Bunun Harvest Festival Welcomes Spring── A Southern Cross-Island Highway Cultural feast

The Southern Cross-Island Highway area has rich cultural and natural resources, including traditional Bunun culture, one of the park’s most important cultural assets. From January 26-30, 2009, the park headquarters will hold 10 Bunun cultural performances in the Meishan area. This will allow visitors to enjoy a local cultural feast as well as enjoying the natural ecology and landscape of the Southern Cross-Island Highway.

The park headquarters pointed out that these 10 performances will be presented by two performance troupes from the Meishan community and will include traditional dance. Local people have also been recruited to demonstrate making millet and the “ear shooting ceremony” to give visitors an experience of the life wisdom of the Bunun in the past and allow them to understand the essence of aborigine culture, aiming, through this cultural feast, to enrich the visit of visitors to the Southern Cross-Island Highway and, moreover, contribute to the preservation of aborigine culture and its diversified promotion, Anyone interested in nature and culture should not miss this chance for an educational journey!
