Taroko National Park holds the “Global Warming and Polar Conservation Photography Exhibition”

Vanishing white earth. Taroko National Park holds the “Global Warming and Polar Conservation Photography Exhibition”

The north and south poles of the earth are a long way from Taiwan and, except for polar bears and penguins, most people in Taiwan are unfamiliar with the poles’ various phenomena and don’t pay much attention to what the changes tell us about the environment and the impact they may have on our lives. A number of photographers from Taiwan, including former director of the Environmental Protection Administration, Chang Long-sheng, visited the frozen North and South Pole, where it is continually night for half a year and continually day for half a year, on numerous occasions over the last few years, bringing back many precious photographs. These fine photographs have been specially selected by Taroko National Park and they will be shown in “Vanishing White Earth- “Global Warming and Polar Conservation Photography Touring Exhibition” which opened on January 20 and will close on March 31. Visitors are very welcome.

Taiwan is not exempt from the massive impact of climate change global ecology and threat to  human survival and it is hoped this exhibition will encourage people to attach importance to the environmental problems around them and learn how to participate in environmental protection activities.
