“Exploring Dongsha Marine National Park” and “ Islands in a turbulent ocean- a dialogue between the black tide and islands” films being shown
Two films —“Exploring Dongsha Marine National Park” and “Islands in a turbulent ocean- a dialogue between the black tide and islands” are being shown at set times alongside the “Exploring Longgong Photography Exhibition,” an exhibition jointly organized by Dongsha Marine National Park Headquarters, Taiwan Underwater Photography Association and National Taiwan Museum. The films began showing in the GOI room on level 1 basement floor of National Taiwan Museum’s main building on March 25 and will be shown until April 25.
“Exploring Dongsha Marine National Park” introduces Dongsha’s unique geological landscape, its maritime climate, ecology and culture and records the great efforts made by the government to protect the islands and the ocean around them. “Islands in a turbulent ocean” explains in detail how the waters around Orchid Island, Green Island, the “three northern islands” (Pengjia Islet, Mianhua Islet and Huaping Islet), Guishan Island, Dongsha Atoll and the Penghu Archipelago became ideal places for fish to live and breed because of the abundant plankton that thrives on the rich nutrients carried by the black tide. Members of the public are invited to view the exhibition and the films to learn about Dongsha Marine National Park and appreciate the beauty of the ocean around Taiwan.
