Shei-pa National Park “Drawing the spirits of the high mountains—Cheng Gui-ji’s ecological color drawings” special exhibition
To introduce the beauty of the alpine plants of Taiwan’s national parks, from April 7 to June 30 Shei-pa National Park Headquarters is holding the “Drawing the spirits of the high mountains—Cheng Gui-ji’s ecological color drawings” special exhibition. The venue is the special exhibition room on the second floor of Wenshui Visitor Center. Interested members of the public are invited to view the drawings.
Cheng Gui-ji, nicknamed Ah-Fei, is a policeman. He once served in Yushan Brigade, National Park Police Corps and now serves in the Shei-pa Brigade. Both parks are alpine type and the daily work of the police requires patrolling in the high mountains. Most of the park is covered by mountains over 3000 meters high and the ecology is rich. Ah-Fei likes to use the flowers, grasses and trees of the park as the subjects of his drawings. He first takes photographs when he is on patrol then draws from the photographs when he is off duty. He also draws alpine plants and dreamlike figures on everyday objects like cutting boards, flasks, handbags, “green” shopping bags, chairs and leather, creating works of art that can be appreciated and used. Members of the public are welcome to appreciate his works. For more information phone 037-996100 ext. 850
