Kenting National Park Headquarters asks that the public refrain from using illegally operated cross-country jeeps to stay safe and protect the park environment
On September 9, 2008 Kenting National Park Headquarters erected barriers to prevent the jeeps that were carrying visitors at high speed through the mountain forest and on the riverbed at the mouth of Gangkou Creek, causing environmental damage, from entering the damaged areas of the park. However, recently, operators have opened up a new route near the site of a recent fire. One jeep overturned, causing slight injury to visitors. Kenting National Park regards this incident as unfortunate and has fined the offending jeep operator and will join with land management bodies in making the damaged land a restricted area. The park HQ calls on visitors to the park to refrain from taking rides on these cross country jeeps to protect the park and stay safe.
