Taroko National Park’s Baiyang Trail only open up to the waterfall platform due to construction work on

Recent heavy rains have hollowed out the foundations of the observation platform (觀景平台) at Shuiliandong(Water Curtain水濂洞). To protect visitors the Taroko National Park Headquarters is carrying out “Baiyang Trail Observation Platform Reinforcement Engineering”. Work will include driving in steel girders vertically, laying rock filled cages and filling the foundations with crushed rock. The construction machinery that will be used and the equipment that will be stored at Shuliandong (Water Curtain) make Shuiliandong temporarily unsuitable for visitors. To allow work to proceed unimpeded and protect visitors during the construction period (June 23 to August 22 2009), Baiyang Trail will only be open to the waterfall observation platform and Shuiliandong will be off-limits to visitors. The park headquarters requests that visitors stay away from Shuliandong (Water Curtain) during this time and regrets any inconvenience.
