The First National Park “Youth Camp” gets underway
Intended to disseminate ecological protection concepts, the “First National Park Youth Camp,” jointly organized by the Construction & Planning Agency, MOI and the headquarters of Taiwan’s national parks, began on July 23 in Taroko National Park Headquarters. It will be followed by youth camps held by the other national parks, the aim being to allow young people to appreciate the beauty of nature.
The CPA said that the camps are being held for the first time with the aim of bringing young people and national parks closer together, nurturing their love for nature, passing on conservation concepts to them and marketing the beauty of Taiwan’s national parks. Mountains, streams and the ocean will be the classroom and the participants will use their eyes and ears to observe the minute changes they might usually miss, with the aim of encouraging young people to love nature and life and protect the environment so that natural resources can be suitably developed.
Environmental restrictions and limited suitable space mean that camp activities are rarely held in Taiwan’s national parks. “Youth Camp” will include interesting marine and forest outdoor exploration. Anyone interested is invited to contact the various national parks for more information.
