Entries being accepted for the Taroko International Marathon. The limit on runners is 10,000

Taroko International Marathon will take place on November 11, 2009. Entries are now being accepted and the closing date for entries is September 24. The maximum number of entries is 10,000. Interested people should contact the Chinese Taipei Road Running Association to enter.

This is the 10th year the race has been held since the first Taroko marathon was held in 2000 and it has become a major autumn event for the national park. It allows participants to run along the Central Cross-Island Highway and enjoy the beauty of Taroko Gorge without interference from vehicles. The race has three sections: marathon, half marathon and fun run. Related information can be seen below:

  3. Date of activity: November 7, 2009
  4. Route:
    • Marathon (42.195 kilometers):Central Cross-Island Highway Gate→Asia Cement Fenghuanglin→Central Cross-island Highway Gate→Tiansiang(turaround))→Taroko terrace. Time limit : six hours.
    • Half-marathon(21 kilometers):Central Cross-Island Highway gate→Asia Cement Fenghuanglin→Central Cross-island Highway Gate→Sipan(turnaround )→Taroko Terrace. Time limit: three hours
    • Fun run(5 kilometers:North end of Jinwen bridge→Eternal Spring Shrine→Changchun Bridge→Jinwen Bridge. Time limit: one hour.
  5. Entry fee: Marathon NT$900(including chip hire fee of NT$100), Half-marathon NT$700(including chip hire fee of NT$100)and fun run NT$300.
