After suffering damaging severe trail damage during Typhoon Morakot Kenting National Park’s Mt. Nanren Ecological Protected Area is closed for repairs

Affected by Typhoon Morakot the trail has begun to collapse at the 800 meter point and the newly-laid wooden planks have slid into the river valley, making the trail impassable. Days of heavy rain have also made the mud on the trail knee-deep. The national park headquarters thus decided to close the ecological protected area from August 10 for repairs to ensure visitor safety.

The park headquarters suggests that people instead visit other worthwhile places in the park. The can visit Cikong Waterfall in Manzhou rural township to enjoy peace and quiet, try authentic Gangkou tea, go to Jialeshui to view the strange rocks or explore the narrow paths of Manzhou village, see some of the elegant old houses featured in the film Cape No. 7 and enjoy some country delicacies.
