Affected by Typhoon Morakot Yushan National Park is temporarily not accepting park entry permit applications!
The Construction & Planning Agency, MOI said that Typhoon Morakot caused serious damage to Yushan National Park's access roads, forestry roads and trails so it has been decided to temporarily close the areas of the park that require an entry permit park and not accept park entry permit applications.
After the Central Weather Bureau issued a sea warning for Typhoon Morakot at 8.30pm on August 5, 2009, , the national park headquarters announced the temporary closure of the areas of the park that require an entry permit. Areas of the park were heavily damaged by the typhoon and visitor safety cannot be ensured. It is estimated that the closed areas will remain closed until October 15. The park headquarters will announce the date various climbing routes will be reopened when the disaster affected areas have recovered sufficiently and the trails are repaired.
Climbing teams that have already paid the Baiyun Shelter cleaning fee can apply to the park headquarters for a refund. For more information call: 886-49-2773121.
