Kenting National Park Headquarters invites famous chefs to develop dishes with a local flavor as part of the effort to promote eco-tourism

Kenting National Park’s efforts to promote eco-tourism have received a good response from visitors and, in 2008, these efforts were rewarded when the park headquarters was awarded the Executive Yuan’s National Sustainable Development Award. However, visitors have been dissatisfied with the dishes with local character that were served. To resolve this situation renowned chefs from top local hotels have been invited to personally teach the people of Sheding village how to cook tasty and attractive dishes with a local character.

The national park headquarters said the guidance it provided has made Sheding village(社頂部落) into an eco-tourism based community, however, visitors were not satisfied with the dishes with local character that were served, the main problems being cooking methods and arrangement of the food on the plate. Famous chefs were thus invited to develop new dishes with local character. The chefs have used ingredients, all local and from sustainable sources, to imaginatively create various tasty and visually appealing dishes with local character. Don’t forget the try the local food when you visit Sheding for eco-tourism!
