Lieyu Jiugong Tunnel is Temporarily Closed
The tunnel will be closed from September 21 to 24 so that work to remove loose rock can be carried out and the danger faced by visitors is reduced.
Kinmen Harbor Division has recently carried out “Jiugong harbor finger pier extension work” during which blasting and dredging were carried out. Jiugong Tunnel occasionally had rock falls before this work and, to avoid rocks loosened by blasting and dredging falling and hitting visitors, Kinmen National Park Headquarters decided to hire workers to remove loose rock from inside the tunnel for four days in succession from September 21 to 24.
The park headquarters said that there is an element of danger associated with loose rock clearing work. To allow the work to proceed without interference and avoid putting visitors in danger it has been decided to close the tunnel to visitors during the time work is being carried out. Any inconvenience to visitors is regretted.
