2009 Walami Cultural and Ecological tourism activity series
To promote eco-tourism, Yushan National Park will, with the assistance of the Nannan Village Development Association of Zhuoxi Rural Township, Hualien, hold two activities which will introduce visitors to the beauty of red maple-lined Walami Trail in autumn. Guided by interpreters, participants will learn ecological conservation knowledge, how the Bunun tribe coexists with nature and the importance of using resources in a sustainable way.
The “Ferns of autumn cultural and ecological tour” will be held twice and is aimed at the general public. The registration fee is NT$3800 per person. The tour will include a walk of around 14 kilometers one day during which the ecology and cultural history of the Walami Trail will be explored. Participants will also experience Bunun customs and discover the charm of Nannan by bicycle. The activities will take place October 9-11 and October 24-26.The number of participants in each activity is limited to 20 people.
