When Nature Meets Culture:The International Forums for National Parks and Indigenous Cultural Understanding of Nature

To show the substantial ecological knowledge of Taiwan’s indigenous people, Taiwan’s cultural and bio-diversity and to share current ecological and cultural conservation plans with visitors from overseas October 21 to 25 Shei-pa National Park Headquarters held the “When Nature Meets Culture:The International Forums for National Parks and Indigenous Cultural Understanding of Nature”. The activity included visits to villages, a workshop and an international seminar, allowing foreign friends to see and learn from Taiwan’s cultural and bio-diversity conservation efforts and achievements.

Representatives came from countries all over the world to visit the Atayal villages on Shei-pa park’s periphery where exchanges took place, and to take part in a two day international seminar held at Providence University in Taichung during which Taiwan’s biological and cultural conservation efforts and achievements were displayed. National park representatives from Cambodia and Bhutan etc were also in attendance and a national park twinning ceremony was held. For more information please see the website.
