“Dancing black shadows-Cormorant Ecology Documentary” to be presented in Kinmen
“Dancing black shadows-Cormorant Ecology Documentary” will be presented at 11am on November 6 (Friday) in the first audio - visual room of Kinmen National Park’s Zhongshanlin Visitor Center.
Every year at the end of October, Common Cormorants(Phalacrocorax carbo 鸕鶿) fly south to spend winter on lakes south of the Yangzi River and Kinmen, and then return north of the river to breed at the end of March. The documentary was filmed over two years and shows the birds looking for food, roosting and mating. Leading wildlife filmmakers traveled to the cormorants’ natural habitat in Europe, China and Hong Kong to film the birds’ changing plumage and varied courting behavior in the mating season and nest building.
Every winter evening at dusk the sky over Kinmen’s Ci Lake is filled by large flocks of cormorants, creating a spectacular and unforgettable scene that can be described as world class. Nature lovers are invited to view the documentary and learn about the lives of cormorants.
