A limited number of Mt. Jade main peak (peaks) park entry applications will be accepted from November 13.
The parts of Yushan National Park damaged by typhoon Morakot have been mostly repaired and the limited opening of Mt. Jade main peak (peaks) is planned from November 13 to January 29, 2010. Applications have been accepted since November 2. It is estimated that formal opening will take place on March 1, 2010. For more information please see related websites.
- The applying group should complete a “Mt.Yu peak (peaks) climbing route declaration” that should be confirmed by being signed by group members. If the park entry application is successful, to obtain a conservation area entry permit, the original copy of this declaration and a money order for the fee for overnight accommodation in Paiyun lodge should be mailed to Yushan National Park HQ by registered mail within three days.
- The “itinerary” should include the method of transport and include a detailed accident response plan.
- Paiyun lodge has a daily accommodation capacity of 82 people. The camping ground is temporarily closed. Visitors are requested to carry their own water and to use water sparingly.
- All members of climbing groups will have their temperature tested and anyone with a high temperature will not be allowed into the conservation area.
- Yushan National Park has the right to cancel conservation area entry permits because of bad weather without arranging alternative dates.
- The roads and trails are dangerous after typhoons. Climbers are requested to take special care at such times.
