Marine National Park Headquarters to hold the “Taiwan’s Marine Bio-resources and Industry” lecture as part of the Caring For Taiwan’s Ocean lecture series

From 10am to 12pm on November 14 Marine National Park Headquarters will hold a lecture presented by a professor from National Kaohsiung Marine University titled “Taiwan’s Marine Bio-resources and Industry” as part of its Caring For Taiwan’s Ocean lecture series which is intended to promote marine ecology education.

Since it was established in Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park in October 2007, the park headquarters has actively promoted marine conservation, developed good a good interactive relationship with the local community and has held marine related lectures for the public with the aim of raising the public awareness of the importance of protecting the marine environment. Taiwan is an island and its east coast faces the Pacific. The ocean area off the coast is one that migratory fish species have to pass through. As fishing industry policy and natural resources have changed, the structure of fishing industry production has changed, presenting a new challenge to Taiwan, a place with a long fishing history.

The venue for the lecture is the Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park Visitors Center. For more information go to the Marine National Park Headquarters website or telephone 886-7-360-1879.
