Kinmen National Park Headquarters to hold the “Symposium on Traditional Island Building Reuse” on November 26 & 27
To promote the preservation of national park cultural assets, for the first time an event is being staged that will allow the traditional building preservation experiences of Penghu, Mazu and Kinmen to be shared—the Symposium on Traditional Island Building Reuse on November 26 & 27.
On the first day of the symposium a guided tour of villages will be held, led by an expert in local history and culture and, for a discount price, the beauty of traditional houses can be experienced. The second day will have two lectures: “Kinmen National Park's Operation and Management,” and “Sustainable management of island Cultural Assets,” two sessions: “Settlement preservation and community building—the Penghu and Mazu experience” and “Settlement preservation and reuse mechanism—Southern Fujian traditional building preservation and management” and a general discussion on the subject of “A future vision for island traditional building reuse”. For more information see the park website or call 886-2-87722408. Spaces are limited and no further registrations will be accepted when the limit is reached.
