Visitors asked to save water as Tatajia area has entered the dry season

With the Tatajia area in the midst of the dry season Yushan National Park HQ has asked visitors to save water and take all the food and water they need for their visit with them. Also the temperature in the mountains is quite low, on average 8-11 C in daytime and lower at night. Tatajia has an elevation of 2600 meters and there is a big gap in day and night temperatures. Visitors are asked to wear/carry warm clothes, take care and take precautions to prevent forest fires.

Typhoon Morakot badly damaged Tatajia’s access roads. After energetic repair work Provincial Highway 18 is open to medium sized buses and Provincial Highway 21 ( New Central Cross Island Highway) is only open to cars. The road is open to Tatajia, however, the road condition is poor and rock falls are quite frequent so visitors should drive carefully.
