Greater White-Fronted Goose and Cotton Teal are recorded in Kenting National Park for the first time, adding color to Longluan Lake

Longluan Lake in Kenting National Park was designated a wetland of national importance in 2007 by CPAMOI. It is also an important water bird reserve and bird watching spot.

In October and November alone, various rare birds made an appearance on the lake, including the white-fronted goose (anser albifrons 白額雁),cotton teal (nettapus coromandelianus 棉鴨), black stork. ( ciconia nigra.黑鸛), black-naped oriole (oriolus chinensis sharpe.黃鸝), silky starling. ( sturnus sericeus絲光椋鳥), red-cheeked starling. (sturnus philippensis小椋鳥), gull-billed tern(sterna nilotica.鷗嘴燕鷗), purple heron (ardea purpurea紫鷺), great bittern. (botaurus stellaris 大麻鷺), peregrine falcon (falco peregrinus sundwall. 遊隼), crested goshawk (accipiter trivirgatus.鳳頭蒼鷹), bean goose. ( anser fabalis豆雁), pochard.(aythya ferina.磯雁), great crested grebe(podiceps cristatus冠鷿鷉), osprey(pandion haliaetus魚鷹),common cormorant.(phalacrocorax carbo.鸕鶿), gray-baked starling. (sturnus sinensis噪林鳥)etc. Of these, the white-fronted goose and cotton teal were recorded for the first time in the park, taking the number of bird species recorded in Kenting National Park to 340.

These lovely visitors, stopping off on their journey south, opened the curtain on the Longluan Lake Water Bird Season. Anyone interested in seeing these visitors from the north is welcome to visit Longluan Lake, one of the best bird watching spots in Taiwan!
