Taroko Park HQ calls on people to keep out of golden canyon

Golden Canyon, located on the middle and upper reaches of Erzhan South Creek, suffered large-scale landslides in mid May. The park headquarters immediately dispatched rangers to investigate and the conclusion was that recent heavy rain had loosened the rock and soil, causing the landslides.

The park headquarters has announced the news online and Xincheng Precinct has stopped accepting applications for mountain entry permits for the area and has asked the Sanzhan Community Development Association’s volunteer rangers to help persuade visitors to stay away from the area. Taroko National Park Headquarters calls on members of the public to stay away from Golden Canyon until further notice to stay safe.

The date of reopening will be decided by the park headquarters together with the Forestry Bureau, Xiulin Township office and other units. When the date is decided it will be announced on the park website and in the media.
