National Park Mountaineering School to hold climbing skills camp for college mountaineering clubs
The National Park Mountaineering School is to hold a mountaineering skills camp for members of college mountaineering clubs between July 15 and 20. Members of such clubs are invited to participate.
The specialized courses and hands-on training of the camp are intended to give college students practical climbing and outdoor skills to prepare them for the challenge of mountains of intermediate difficulty.
The six day and five night camp’s courses will include route planning, map reading, crossing difficult terrain, emergency shelter, accident handling and requesting assistance after an accident. Participants will experience the kind of mixed forest and changing terrain they will encounter when climbing intermediate difficulty mountains and will also practice climbing and river crossing. The courses are varied and practically useful.
The deadline for registration is July 6. Participants are required to pay NT$1000 for the materials used in the “food planning” course, NT$600 for gear hire and also cover the cost of transport to the venue themselves. For more information call 886-3-8691190
