Tunnel of Nine Turns Trail eastern entrance section of the Central Cross-Island Highway subject to traffic controls on June 26 to allow safety work to be carried out
To make the Tunnel of Nine Turns Trail and the Central Cross-Island Highway’s Tunnel of Nine Turns’ eastern entrance section safer slope scraping work will be carried out along this section of highway. Traffic restrictions will be in place on June 24 between 8.10pm and 5pm, with traffic allowed to pass ten minutes before and after the hour. If the work is finished early restrictions will be lifted ahead of schedule.
Taroko National Park Headquarters carries out periodic slope scarping in areas where the rock is unstable or that receive a large number of visitors. Heavy rains and earthquakes can easily loosen the rock and the Tunnel of Nine Turns’ eastern entrance is used by a large number of people on foot and vehicles, consequently, the headquarters decided to ask a contractor to carry out slope scarping work to make visits safer. To allow work to proceed smoothly visitors are asked to pay extra attention to safety when passing through the area in which work is being carried out, to give way to other vehicles, and also follow the directions of traffic control personnel. Any inconvenience is regretted.
