Ban on all collecting, hunting and fishing in Houbihu Marine Resources Protection Demonstration Area reiterated. Operators asked to stay within the designated activity areas to avoid being fined.

Since the establishment of the demonstration area in March 2005 substantial conservation success has been achieved. To protect the hard-won results it is really necessary to ban all collecting, hunting and fishing in the area. The national park headquarters reiterates the ban on such activities by legal water-based recreation operators. Operators who carry out such prohibited activities in the demonstration area run the risk of being stripped of their license. To improve the effectiveness of resource protection powered boats and water scooters are banned from the restricted area. Operators in breach of this ban will be regarded as illegal operators and will be fined NT$3000.Operators are also asked to keep powered boats and water scooters away from Houbihou Fishing harbor navigation channel to ensure smooth navigation and visitor safety.
