Yushan National Park introduces an “instant summit certificate issue” service

To allow climbers from Taiwan and overseas who successfully reach the main peak of Yushan (Mt. Jade) to obtain a summit certificate without having to wait, Yushan National Park Headquarters has introduced an “instant summit certificate approval and issue” service. From now any climber who reaches the main peak can go to Paiyun Shelter or the national park headquarters' Shuili staff cooperative, tell staff their name, the date the peak was reached, contact telephone number, hand over a photograph of them taken on the peak and pay NT$100 administrative fee and the summit certificate will be issued on the spot. If a certificate cannot be obtained on the day a certificate, including a photograph of the climber taken on the peak, can be received by postal application.

Previously, climbers had to provide a photograph of themselves on the peak, pay a NT$300 administrative fee and wait one week for processing. Many visitors complained that the time required was too long and the inconvenience was especially great for overseas visitors, many staying only for a short time in Taiwan. As a result, the national park headquarters decided to begin issuing peak summit certificates on the spot. Interested parties are welcome to make good use of this service.
