Splendid Atayal fashion show at Syuejian, Shei-pa National park
As well as precious natural forest resources, the snow scenes of “holy ridge trail” and river gorge scenery of Da-an River that many people are familiar with, Shei-pa National Park’s Syuejian Recreation Area has rich aborigine culture. On August 14 a splendid Atayal fashion show was held in the forest at Syuejian. The show was opened by a mouth organ and singing performance by children from villages along the Da-an River, then village chiefs blessed the event, followed by a traditional Atayal dance performance and a big drum performance.
The highlight of the event was when models took to the stage wearing traditional garments. Seeing the models on the stage was like seeing their ancestors moving effortlessly through the forest. There was also a show of innovative colorful garments, giving a new visual effect, the innovative garments and traditional woven items combining new and old perfectly. The splendid fashion show showed the audience the vitality of Atayal garments and was an aborigine culture feast.
