One of the activities being held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ROC’s establishment—the Taroko Winter Marathon—will be held November 6. Entries are being accepted from now until September 23, and there is a limit of 10,000 runners. This is the eleventh year the marathon has been staged since the inaugural race in 2000, and it has become one of the highlight activities of the national park in winter. The marathon allows runners to run at their own pace on the Central Cross-island Highway, enjoying the beauty of Taroko Gorge without vehicle interference, and has become very popular with the public. In addition to the full marathon, a half marathon and a fun run will also be held on the same day.
