One of the ROC 100th anniversary activities—Taroko Winter Marathon—is now accepting entries. Entry limit is 10,000 people

One of the activities being held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ROC’s establishment—the Taroko Winter Marathon—will be held November 6. Entries are being accepted from now until September 23, and there is a limit of 10,000 runners. This is the eleventh year the marathon has been staged since the inaugural race in 2000, and it has become one of the highlight activities of the national park in winter. The marathon allows runners to run at their own pace on the Central Cross-island Highway, enjoying the beauty of Taroko Gorge without vehicle interference, and has become very popular with the public. In addition to the full marathon, a half marathon and a fun run will also be held on the same day. Entry forms can be picked up from the Chinese Taipei Road Running Association or Taroko National Park service stations. For more information call the association at 02-2585-5659 or visit the website at http://www.sportsnet.org.tw

Taroko National Park Headquarters notes that the Taroko Marathon has always been warmly received by running enthusiasts in Taiwan and overseas and the maximum number of entrants is usually reached well before the deadline, so interested parties are advised to enter early to avoid disappointment.
