2010 Greater Tainan area black-spoonbill population survey carried out!
The autumn winds are blowing and the temperature has cooled. This year’s first black-faced spoonbill arrived at 11.26 am on September 26, 2010 in Taijiang National Park’s Black-faced Spoonbill Reserve. In a meeting between the national park headquarters and conservation groups it was decided to hold a Greater Tainan black-faced spoonbill population survey this year, with the headquarters serving as a communication platform. The area covered by the survey was the same as that surveyed by conservation groups previously: the area south of Bazhang River and north of Yanshui River. Survey personnel came from the Tainan County Black-faced Spoonbill Conservation Association, the Wild Bird Society of Tainan City and park volunteers. This time the survey counted 47 birds, all in the black-faced spoonbill reserve. No black faced spoonbills were recorded south of the Zengwen River. For more information call: 06-3910000#603。
