Coral bleaching in the seas around Kenting slows in the cool of autumn

This year the US NOAA’s analysis showed that the western Pacific will continue to have record high temperatures. July-September Taiwan was also affected by high summer temperatures, a situation that accelerates the process of coral bleaching. In August experts discovered bleaching in the waters around Kenting. The “Global climate change advanced warning mechanism—Kenting coastal waters continuous monitoring system” established by the national park headquarters allows the water temperature to be constantly monitored in real time and also shows if the ecological environment has undergone major changes. To keep track of the effects of climate change, the national park headquarter will continue monitoring work so an up-to-the-minute grasp of coral health can be achieved and to record local environmental changes.
