2010 Taroko Gorge Music Festival held. 10,000 people enjoy beautiful music in lovely natural surroundings

With the blue sky as the curtain and the green grass as the seats, Taroko’s grand annual musical event, the 2010 Taroko Musical Festival, was held on Taroko Terrace on November 20. Almost 10,000 people were enchanted by beautiful music in lovely natural surrounding. At the end many members of the audience showed their appreciation by standing and clapping, excitedly calling out “Encore, Encore!” Philharmonia Moment Musical, acclaimed bamboo flutist Chen Zhong-shen, female soprano Zhan Yi-jia, Chen Yong-tao, a Hakka singer-songwriter, and diva Pan Yue-yun were amongst the groups and artists performing, giving the lucky audience treat after treat. The theme of this year’s concert was “100 years of splendor”. The program featured Western symphonies and also music from the four main ethnic groups of Taiwan, the historical span of works performed taking in aborigine village society, the period of Han settlement, the Japanese colonial period, the early Republican period, the period after the Nationalists government took over Taiwan in 1945, the 1980s and present day.
