The CPAMI and National Taiwan Museum jointly hold the “Marine Taiwan ecological conservation “special exhibition
This jointly-organized exhibition will be held from now until October 30. The two main themes are “Taiwan’s ocean” and “Taiwan’s marine biodiversity”and sub-themes are “Taiwan’s coral reefs, “ The special ecology of shallow sea,” “Perpetually dark deep sea,” “Marine bio-diversity,” “The “most” of Taiwan’s marine creatures,” “The marine stars of Taiwan’s news,” “marine conservation in Taiwan” etc, the aim being to give visitors a better understanding of the marine environment around Taiwan, its beautiful creatures and resources, marine damage and pollution, changes in the marine ecology and the hopes for and future of Taiwan’s marine environment.
Beginning with the formation of the island of Taiwan, the theme “Taiwan’s ocean” includes an introduction to the sea areas around Taiwan. Various marine environments provides diverse environments, giving a high level of marine biodiversity, a subject that is also introduced. The theme “Taiwan’s marine biodiversity focuses on introducing the creatures that live in the seas around Taiwan. Supported by rich biological resources, Taiwan’s marine biodiversity is very important to the island.
Taiwan’s land area accounts for only 0.0025% of the world’s land area and although the surrounding sea area is small, it has a high level of biodiversity and, actually, has around 10% of the world’s species, making it special in terms of global species distribution. Biological resources are renewable resources and only by developing them in a suitable way and managing them can they be used sustainably.
