Activities prohibited in Shei-pa National Park announced

On April 15 the amended list of prohibited activities in Shei-pa National Park was announced by the Ministry of the Interior, the aim being to meet the needs of the current situation and solve some practical management problems.

The prohibited items include added items and revised items. The revised regulations are intended to more effectively protect the Formosan landlocked salmon and its habitat. Entering Qijiawan Creek, Gaoshan Creek, Taoshan West Stream and Taoshan North Creek is now prohibited unless approval is first received.

As for new regulations, the eastern section of Dalu Forest Road has been turned into a trail. Entry is prohibited, apart from the period 5am to 11am, to all apart from people on official business, and climbing to the summit of Dabajian Mountain is also prohibited. Also, except with permission, camping outside a camp or designated camping area and entering an ecological reserve are prohibited. In addition, changing approved routes or itineraries without approval is also prohibited as are damaging signs, scenery viewing platforms, cabins and toilets, feeding wild animals or releasing captive ones and taking pets into the ecological reserves and special scenic areas.
