To establish a maritime recreation safety management mechanism Kenting National Park Headquarters is to make participation in activity safety lectures mandatory


Maritime recreation has developed strongly in the last few years and activity planning and management will be the main focuses of development as the people pursue more varied activities. However, affected by regional characteristics, climate, facilities, laws and increase in the use of motorized equipment, the management of safety when members of the public engage in maritime recreational activities is the most important task faced at present.

The equipment used in maritime recreation activities is becoming more varied all the time and involves a number of laws so, to effectively carry out safety management, a complete, systematic, broad-ranging and mandatory set of laws is needed to bind and manage operators. In this light, this headquarters has, in addition to coordinating with the “Regulations Governing Water Recreation Activities” set by the MOTC, is also implementing the “Kenting National Park Maritime Recreational Activity Management Plan,” through legal and reasonable opening achieving the objective of effective management.

To reduce the occurrence of accidents and provide a safe and comfortable environment for maritime recreation, efforts will be made with respect to education (training), warning, rescue and laws and regulations. In combination with private groups and schools and other specialized areas and utilizing the national park’s existing facilities and natural environment, the regular holding of water recreational safety education activities and water rescue training for operators and the public will achieve the objective of making rescue highly flexible. A jet ski safety lecture was conducted by this headquarters June 16-17 and a lecture and seminar for scuba diving operators will be held in mid-July to strengthen operators’ emergency response and rescue capability.

In addition to continuing to implement the emergency rescue response plan, this headquarters regularly conducts exercises, carries out recurrent training for EMT1 (stage –one  emergency medical technicians,)training for front-line emergency personal and civil defense units to strengthen emergency response and rescue capability.
