Entries start for the 2011 Taroko Gorge Marathon
The 2011 Taroko Gorge Marathon will take place on November 5, and entry to the marathon opens today thru September 23. Participants are limited to 15,000 maximum. People interested should register at the Chinese Taipei Road Running Association.
The Taroko Gorge Marathon is a much anticipated annual fall event in Taroko National Park, and 2011 will mark the event’s 12th year since its inception in 2000. Running aficionados will have the chance to run freely, without traffic, in the natural beauty of the canyons and gorges that engulf the Central Cross-Island Highway.
The event is divided into Full Marathon, Half Marathon and Healthy Running for All. The information is as follow:
1.Entry opens from August 15, 2011 to September 15 (No more entries will be accepted when the limit number of participants has been reached).
2.Entry forms can be obtained from the following locations: CTRRA, Taroko National Park Headquarters, and at all 6 retail location of K-SWISS. For further information, please contact the CTRRA, Tel (02)-25855659, or visit the CTRRA website.
3.Date: November 5, 2011.
4.Route:
(1) Full Marathon (42.195 km): start from the Archway of the Central Cross-Island Highway→Phoenix Forest at Asia Cement→Archway→Tienhsiang(return)→Taroko Terrace. Time limit: 6 hours.
(2) Half Marathon (21 km): start from the Archway→Phoenix Forest at Asia Cement→Archway→river side (return)→Taroko Terrace. Time limit: 3 hours.
(3) Healthy Running for All (5 km): north end of the Jinwen Bridge→Changchun Shrine→Changchun Bridge→Jinwen Bridge. Time limit: 1 hour.
5.Entry fee:
Full Marathon: $900NTD (includes $100NTD chip rental fee)
Half Marathon: $700NTD (includes $100NTD chip rental fee)
Healthy Running: $300NTD
